While Gangs of London series 2 hasn’t been confirmed, there seems to be an appetite for it from show co-creator (along with Matt Flannery) Gareth Evans. Evans told The Metro: ‘There’s room for it. Without giving too much away, we definitely end the season on a note where people will be wanting more and asking what is happening next. ‘I’m treading carefully! It’s sort of a cliff-hanger but as most things it’s a story that takes on a lot of different aspects, there’s a lot of different characters in there, a lot of vested interests, there’s a lot of stray threats trailing in the wind ready to be picked up again.’
Elliot’s next move
Former undercover cop Elliot (Sope Dirisu) is cut off from the force at the end of the show, he’s escaped from the interrogators with help from The Investors who now believe he works for them – and who say they will be in touch. But Elliot has the microchip given to him by Sean Wallace (Joe Cole) holding the key to a lot of powerful people and big businesses who have been involved in corruption of one sort or another. The call Elliot makes to his dad makes it clear he’s not ‘taking a fall in the third’ but will continue to try to bring down the top brass. Elliot’s mission could expand the show out in all kinds of directions going forward.
Who are The Investors?
We know very little about them other than that in the credits they are listed as Mr. Jacob played by Tim McInnerny and Ms. Kane played by Amanda Drew. They have great influence over massive parts of the capital city, it would appear, and when the interrogator hears that Elliot is allied with them he says Elliot has bought his way into a very dangerous world. It’s a world we’d like to see more of.
Marian and Floriana team up
Once rivals as the wife and lover of Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney), in the epilogue Floriana (Arta Dobroshi) approaches Marian (Michelle Fairley) who’s been shot by Ed (Lucian Msamati) and says she’s going to help her. Will the two women join forces? With both somewhat under the radar now and perhaps believed to be dead they could become a powerful force in the city with money to back them up and revenge in mind.
Could Sean Wallace return?
Is Sean (Joe Cole) really dead? Elliot shot Sean in the face in the finale and we hear an officer saying that Sean Wallace is dead, but Sean is such a key part of the show and Joe Cole such a compelling performer that audiences will be dying to see a bit more from him.
Is Luan coming back?
We reckon so. When he leaves town at the end of season one his wife is adamant that he’s going so his enemies destroy each other and he can return stronger than ever and make a bid for control of the city. Luan (Orli Shuka) has been through a lot after his fight with Mosi (Richard Pepple) and the Nigerians, as well as having his money stolen by Finn Wallce. It’s not likely he’s going to give up control that easily.
What about Lale and Asif?
Lale (Narges Rashidi) has gone back to Kurdistan and is adamant that is where her loyalty lies. She could come back but we don’t think it’s a given. Asif (Asif Raza Mir) is distraught after the death of his son Nasir (Parth Thakerar). Is it likely that a man like that could really walk away without revenge? If Lale has gone, his focus might be once more on the Wallace family, and Sean in particular who teamed with Lale. If Sean is really still alive Asif could be his most dangerous adversary.
